FABRICLIVE X CHARLOTTE ARCHER
Deep beneath EC1—to the tune of dnb classics and rumbling tube trains—Charlotte Archer transformed fabric’s iconic Room 2 into a celebration of UK club culture. Her latest exhibition—SYNERGY—included her incredible oil paintings depicting the evolution of the rave scene, from the early 1990s scene to modern day icons like Kano, Mike Skinner, and the late great Randall. Hosted by Mighty Moe of Heartless Crew with a carefully curated soundtrack from legends like Jamie Rodigan, Chef, and Normski, this special event featured jungle, garage and drum & bass—the lifeblood of fabric’s history. Charlotte’s art, accompanied by items from archivist & stylist Rhiannon Isabel, flyer & cover art by Junior Tomlin, and photography by Tristan O’Neill and Tony Davis, bridged the gap between history and the present day. People hugged and laughed—swapping stories about queuing outside at dawn before descending into the labyrinth, and the many times they lost themselves to music—and sometimes in the bathroom—at this legendary club.
Charlotte Archer said: “Fabric was my first rave. My mate and I would head there with just a tenner, bunk the train to Farringdon, and dive into nights that changed our worlds. That place felt like home, a world of euphoria and connection. We just kept going back again and again in search of that feeling. Stepping down those iconic steps felt like slipping into an underground dream where reality faded—it was just you, the music and a sea of people that were like family. All in it together, time stood still, until you resurfaced into the world again.”
